A Quick Look…
This flyer & postcard was created for Loyola University Chicago’s Office of International Programs to help recruit prospective students to an online informational webinar about the Chicago Center program - an inbound LUC short-term study abroad program.

Context
During my role as Graduate Assistant at Loyola University Chicago, I worked with the Chicago Center Program - a U.S. based short-term study abroad program for international students housed under the Office of International Programs. I worked closely with the Chicago Center Director, and one of my main responsibilities was assisting with student recruitment through website and social media account management, editing digital & physical Chicago Center brochures, and creating promotional materials for Chicago Center events.

Purpose & Objectives
The purpose of this webinar is to provide prospective international students with an online informational session about the Chicago Center study abroad program, hosted through Zoom by the Chicago Center Director, Katie Rooney. The flyer was created as a physical and digital recruitment item to be shared around campus and through prospective student email groups. The postcard was created as a physical item that the Chicago Center Director would pass out to prospective students during a student recruitment trip abroad to Asia.
Design
To design the webinar flyer and postcard, I consulted with a staff member from the LUC Office of International Programs who had hosted a similar informational webinar for an outbound LUC study abroad program - the Vietnam Center. She provided useful tips for creating and formatting the flyer that I was able to draw upon when developing the Chicago Center flyer. After consulting with the Chicago Center Director, we decided that both the flyer and the postcard should include the following core components: date, time, contact info, a short description and a registration QR code. For the visual elements of the flyer & postcard, we determined that a backdrop of Chicago and the LUC logo were important to include.
Development
To create the flyer and postcard, I used Microsoft Publisher. After I included the core informational pieces, I added the backdrop photo. To find an appropriate backdrop photo, I used Unsplash, which had a number of free, high quality photos of Chicago. I also included the QR code link by using a source located through Google that allowed me to create and customize a personal QR code. I completed several drafts of the flyer and postcard to incorporate the feedback and edits requested by the Chicago Center Director until we landed on the final version shown above.
